I got to interview and talk to Greg (Gorf) Toothman today. It was really cool to be able to talk to him about his experiences as a musician.
Me: When did you decide to go into music?
Gorf: "Literally when I heard my first KISS album, I was 14 years old. And i went out and bought KISS Alive. I'd always loved music."
Me: What was your first band?
Gorf: "It was called Stepian, I was around 15/16 and had just started to play guitar and had bought my first guitar for $29"
Me: Which do you like better, singing or guitar?
Gorf: "I love them both but I love guitar because then I'm able to write my own songs."
Me: What made you want to play the music you play?
Gorf: "It all depended on what I was listening to, heard KISS so I wanted to play KISS, then I heard Judas Priest so I wanted to play that and so on."
Me: Any advice?
Gorf: "Find people who want to play what you play and that will stick with it. But don't get stuck with doing the same thing."
Me: How long have you been in the music industry?
Gorf: "Around 20 years."
Me: How many albums have you been on?
Gorf: "5"
Me: What were the best and worst bands you have opened for?
Gorf: "Death Angel and Testament were the best, they were very nice guys and cool to hang out with and Quiet Riot was the worst."
